Step by step guide to basic composeting in DaVinci Resolve



Setting up the Clips:

1. Open DaVinci Resolve and import the two video clips: one with you holding a camera and another with you behind a piece of glass. 

2. Place the clips on the timeline, one on top of the other.


Adding camera grafic:

1. Access Effects panel, search for "Video Camera," and apply the effect to the top clip.

2. Create a new Fusion clip by selecting both clips, right-clicking, and choosing "New Fusion Clip."

3. Enter the Fusion workspace.


Adding Planar Tracker:

1. Drag a Planar Tracker to the media, set the reference time, and choose hyperpoint area.

2. Adjust the tracker position and track forward.


Creating Planar Transform:

1. Create a Planar Transform based on the tracking data.

2. Connect the Planar Transform to the top clip.


Adjusting Composition in Fusion:

1. Modify the size and position of the Planar Transform to fit the composition.

2. Use the Merge node to blend the clips.


Exiting Fusion:

1. Return to the Edit page.


Enhancing the Effect:

1. Duplicate the original clip (holding Alt) to create a copy.

2. Use the Magic Mask tool to isolate specific areas (e.g., camera and hand).

3. Track the mask forward and backward.


Applying Blur Effect:

1. In the Effects panel, search for "Blur" and add a Lens Blur effect.

2. Set keyframes to control the blur intensity, simulating a focus shift.


Adding Camera Shake:

1. Insert an Adjustment Clip and search for "Camera Shake" in the Effects panel.

2. Adjust the motion and speed scale to create a subtle handheld effect.
